Privacy Policy

WIRESHIELD, operated by (AFR) Andromeda Field Research LLC, is designed with privacy as a core principle. Security scanning and threat detection happen on your device. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service.

On-Device Processing

WIRESHIELD is built on an on-device-first architecture. All security scanning, threat detection, and location processing happens locally on your device.

  • Bluetooth scan data · Device manufacturer identifiers (OUI), service UUIDs, broadcast names, and signal strength are processed on-device for threat signature matching. This data is stored in encrypted local storage (AES-256) and never transmitted to external servers.
  • WiFi scan data · Network names, security types, and signal strength are processed on-device for rogue network detection. This data is stored locally and never transmitted.
  • NFC data · Tag content is processed in memory only and is never stored or transmitted.
  • Location data · GPS coordinates are processed on-device for Safe Zone geofencing and drone sighting mapping. Location data is never sent to any server.

Per Google Play's Data Safety policy and Apple's App Privacy guidelines, data processed entirely on-device and never sent off the device does not need to be disclosed as "collected."

Account & Authentication

WIRESHIELD requires sign-in with Google or Apple to use the app. This provides:

  • Cross-device subscription verification (access your subscription on the web at wireshield.app)
  • Account recovery if you change devices
  • Future cloud sync capabilities (opt-in, not yet available)

We receive your name and email address from your Google or Apple account. We do not receive or store your password.

Data We Collect

WIRESHIELD collects only the minimal data necessary to provide the service:

  • Account identity · Email address and display name via Google or Apple sign-in. Stored in Firebase Authentication.
  • Subscription status · Whether your subscription is active, the platform (iOS/Android), and the product type. Synced to Firebase Firestore to verify subscriber access on wireshield.app. Does not include payment details.
  • Crash reports · Anonymized crash logs and diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics, not linked to your identity.
  • Purchase records · Transaction identifiers for subscription management, processed entirely by Apple or Google through their respective app stores.

Data Storage & Retention

Your security data is stored locally on your device in encrypted storage (AES-256):

  • Scan results and detected devices, retained until replaced by the next scan
  • Security log, 24-hour rolling window
  • Threat events, 30-day retention
  • Safe zones and authorized devices, retained until you delete them
  • Drone sightings, retained until you delete them

Cloud-stored data:

  • Account identity, retained in Firebase Authentication until account deletion
  • Subscription status, retained in Firebase Firestore until account deletion
  • Crash reports, retained for 90 days by Firebase Crashlytics

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only when necessary:

  • Payment processors · Apple and Google process subscription purchases through their respective app stores
  • Firebase (Google Cloud) · Authentication, subscription status sync, and crash reports. Subject to Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Legal requirements · We may disclose data if required by law

No scan data, location data, Bluetooth data, WiFi data, or threat detection results are ever shared with any third party.

Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have control over your data:

  • Delete your account in-app · Settings → Delete Account removes your Firebase Authentication account, Firestore subscription data, and all cloud-stored user data. Local app data is cleared on uninstall.
  • Delete your account online · Submit a request at wireshield.app/delete-account
  • Export your data · Security logs and threat events can be viewed in-app
  • Manage your subscription · Cancel anytime via Settings → Manage Subscription. Active subscriptions continue until their expiry date after cancellation.

Account deletion removes all cloud-stored data immediately. Your App Store or Google Play subscription is managed separately through your device settings, deleting your WIRESHIELD account does not cancel your subscription.

Children's Privacy

WIRESHIELD is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Family Sharing allows parents to provide app access to family members through their own Apple ID or Google account.

Security

  • All on-device data encrypted with AES-256
  • All network communications use TLS encryption
  • Authentication via industry-standard OAuth 2.0 (Google, Apple)
  • Authentication tokens stored in platform secure storage (Keychain / EncryptedSharedPreferences)
  • We do not store passwords

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of WIRESHIELD after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
